Before Sheila Delson knew the terms “chronic disorganization” or “hoarding” existed, she realized her calling was to bring solutions, techniques, and methods to chronically disorganized people and to her professional organizer colleagues who also wanted to serve them.
FREEDomain Concepts, LLC was born in 1994 as a professional organizing business. Sheila chose the name to reflect being and living in peaceful freedom in your home/environment or work place. The words and letters in her business Logo are deliberately placed to reflect her business mission and purpose.
Sheila is a Certified Professional Organizer specializing in Chronic Disorganization. She works with adults and students who experience chronic disorganization difficulties resulting from neurological, physical, or other challenges such as trauma or sudden life changes. She holds Specialist credentials as an ICD Master Trainer, CD, AD/HD and Hoarding Specialist.
In 2001, Sheila co-founded the Institute for Challenging Disorganization – formerly the National Study Group for Chronic Disorganization, a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. Its mission is to educate professional organizers and related professional in the methods, techniques and solutions that benefit the chronically disorganized population. Sheila served eight years on the board of directors and served as President (2004-2006). In 2002 Sheila also co-developed the group’s education and certification programs, the first national organization to establish certification for professional organizers. She also co-authored an environmental assessment tool, a FREE publication known as the ICD “Clutter-Hoarding Scale,”, which is used by related professionals and government agencies both nationally and internationally.
Sheila also is the developer and instructor for her Managing Your Clutter Program Series, an interactive collaborative program where attendees learn organizing concepts and principals so they can be immediately applied in their personal lives. Sheila is an active member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), where she served as National Award’s Chair (2008-2011) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the NAPO-NY Chapter. She is a graduate of Leadership Dutchess Program, class of 2000, in Dutchess County, NY.
Sheila is the 2013 recipient of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) Founder’s Award, the Industry’s highest recognition: http://2013.napo.net/extras/awards. She also received the 2012 ‘Service to NAPO’ Award,’ and the 2008 Highlighter Award presented by the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, for her significant contribution to the field of study in Chronic Disorganization.” In 2011 she presented at the Japan Association of Life Organizers (JALO) conference in Fukuoka, Japan
Sheila Delson and her husband Jeffrey live in Poughkeepsie, NY near their three adult children and five beautiful grandchildren.
